Cookery Residential: The Ultimate Chalet Host Cookery Course is run in a beautiful location in the heart of a pretty ski resort in the French Alps. We will teach you to prepare stylish dinner parties over a one week intensive course which satisfies the Residential section for the DofE. The courses are great fun and you will be surrounded by like minded young people. No experience is necessary, your qualified tutors will ensure you learn in a fun and safe environment. At £495 per DofE participant (usual price £545) (excluding flights but including all food, smart shared accommodationand airport transfers), the course is on a special offer for young adults participating in a DofE programme. Residential Cookery in the Beautiful Yorkshire Wolds This five day residential course is designed for those completing their DofE residential as well as heading off to university or college or perhaps embarking on a Gap Year. As well as menu planning and cooking on a budget, the students will be taught the art of silver service, napkin folding, safety in the kitchen, store cupboard essentials and use of leftovers. You will leave with a Certificate of Achievement (useful when applying for jobs), Recipe Folder and a two week menu plan. The course also includes an evening talk from Anita Norman, Food Coach and Nutritionist, past students have found this particularly informative and fun. A range of dishes will be taught from healthy breakfast options to entertaining on a budget, cake baking and perfect pastry! The course includes a light lunch and refreshments throughout the day. Abernethy Learn to Cook for Yourself Course: Abernethy has had connections with the catering industry for over 40 years. This course will teach you how to fend for yourself when you leave home, including cooking on a budget, food hygiene, menu planning and posh nosh. All inclusive price is £275. The Avenue Cookery School in Putney, London specialises in teaching Sixth Form, GAP Year and University students how to cook. Our Really Useful Course ideally suited for Sixth Form Duke of Edinburgh students is a 1 week residential course with 5 intensive days of hands on cooking and really useful out of kitchen skills such as first aid, basic car maintenance and insurance. We guide the inexperienced cook through a week of well planned, traditional and contemporary recipes. Orchards Cookery specialises in training and recruiting Chalet Cooks and also runs Off to University Courses. The courses are intensive (with over 100 different dishes covered on a 5 day course) but lots of fun, each day concluding with a dinner party.
