    This role is for those who prefer not to have contact with customers or use a till. You can focus on any or all aspects detailed below: not all are required to fill this role!

    Abernethy Environment and Conservation Weeks:  Abernethy has provided high-quality adventure activities in spectacular wild places for over 40 years.  We’re passionate about our beautiful surroundings and excited about giving you the opportunity to discover and explore them by foot or canoe, and put something back through a local conservation project, with the chance to achieve a John Muir Award during your week.  Stay at Abernethy Ardeonaig whilst helping habitat restoration in the nearby National Trust for Scotland Ben Lawers National Nature Reserve, or  help maintain footpaths or cycleways in partnership with the Perth and Kinross Community Greenspace Ranger Service & the Rannoch Path Group or Sustrans.  As well as taking personal responsibility for wild places, you will have the opportunity to take part in other fun team building activities to help you gel as a group.

    FSC Rhyd-y-creuau: Discover Snowdonia – DofE Award (Gold Residential)


    FSC Rhyd-y-creuau: Discover Snowdonia – DofE Award (Gold Residential)

    Meet new people, develop your skills in the mountains and explore Snowdonia. This experience will provide a range of challenges including climbing and abseiling, teambuilding tasks, mountain navigation, gorge scrambling up a mountain stream, a conservation challenge and an overnight expedition and wild camp (weather permitting).

    Develop your skills in expedition planning, goal setting, navigation and teamwork, as well as meeting the requirements for the Duke of Edinburgh Gold Award Residential.

    The course is based at Rhyd-y-creuau in the Snowdonia National Park, an excellent location from which to reach a whole host of special environments, and easily reached by train.

    FSC Dale Fort: Geology Camp



    This course is aimed at students aged 16 – 25 with an interest in geology, whether they have studied the subject formally or not. It is a fantastic opportunity to extend your experience and knowledge whilst being inspired by how geology can shape your future.

    This residential course will immerse participants in geological techniques and fieldwork at stunning locations in Pembrokeshire. You will have the chance to study a range of geological structures and rock types across Pembrokeshire at world-renowned geological locations like the Green Bridge of Wales.


    It is held at FSC Dale Fort, which sits on a dramatic rocky peninsular on the Pembrokeshire Coast.

    FSC Dale Fort: Marine Science Camp



    Using the fantastic Pembrokeshire coast the course aims to inspire and educate about the marine environment. This course is an ideal way to gain skills and experience in marine conservation, ecosystem surveys and species identification. Special talks and lectures will be given by local conservationists on their research, job roles and the marine environment.

    FSC Slapton Ley: Conservation and Biodiversity – DofE Gold Residential

    Spend a week on the spectacular Slapton Ley National Nature Reserve, immersing yourself in nature, making new friends and challenging yourself in a variety of stunning habitats. This is an amazing opportunity to work with the Nature Reserve and Education staff at Slapton Ley Field Centre, exploring biodiversity and engaging in conservation work.

    You will get the opportunity to explore coastal, lake and woodland habitats whilst getting involved in practical conservation tasks, carrying out habitat surveys, and wildlife watching. There will be plenty of adventure as you develop team-building skills, go canoeing on the ley and learn bushcraft skills in our woodland.

    • Canoeing on the Ley
    • Surveying and identifying freshwater invertebrates
    • Wildlife watching
    • Beach vegetation survey

    New Cookability residential for 2017 - The Sports Kitchen


    CookAbility is excited to announce their brand new residential course -
    combining learning to cook with sport and fitness.

    Students will be taught what to eat and how to cook it to enhance their fitness.


    Our in house personal trainer, Simon Keele of Shape Smiths, will be on hand for daily fitness sessions and together with nutritional therapist Venetia Cameron-Rose will teach students about nutrition for fitness and general health.


    We will be running these residential courses starting in the summer holidays.

    Course Dates:

    23rd July, 30th July and 13th August, 2017.

    Duration and cost:

    Students are asked to arrive on Sunday between 5pm and 6.15pm - trains may be met at Taunton by request.The course will finish on Friday at 1pm. The course costs £650 inclusive of all activities and accommodation.

    Season It! Ski Chalet Cookery and Hosting Course.



    6 night courses run at our beautiful ski chalet in Morillon, in the French Alps during July and August.

    Volunteer at Hillingdon Outdoor Activities Centre – West London


     

    Here at Hillingdon Outdoor Activities Centre we are inviting young people aged 14 and over to become volunteers at our Watersports Club for people with disabilities and additional needs. We meet every Saturday 10am – 4pm from April to October.


    If you have some spare time, like to help people and would be interested in learning something new or sharing your knowledge maybe this is the opportunity for you.
