    Combined Gold expedition and residential with Adventure Expeditions


     Isle of Arran: Combined Residential & Gold Qualifying Expedition: Wildlife and Conservation, 10th - 21st August 2018

    Join us on the beautiful Isle of Arran to complete a Gold residential this August. Now in our fifth year of running these combined residential and Qualifying Expeditions – we complete the John Muir conservation award as well as meeting requirements for your Gold DofE residential followed by your Gold DofE Qualifying Expedition.

    Residential opportunity with Adventure Expeditions


     Outdoor Activities and Qualifications (future outdoor instructor development) - Peak District
    The Residentials will take place on the following dates:
    • Mon 23rd – Sun 29th July 2018, Outdoor Activities and Qualifications (future outdoor instructor development), Peak District , (including two days spent in Snowdonia or Lake District);

    This residential is based in the heart of the Peak District National Park and sets an exciting itinerary for young people who are interested in the outdoors - whether that is developing their own skills for future adventures or thinking of a career as an outdoor instructor. The course is run by experienced Mountaineering Instructors who have many years of delivering courses in the outdoors at the highest level and believe that fun, quality training can inspire young people for many years to come. The itinerary has been deliberately set with both enjoyment and the quality of the experience gained in mind. Over the seven days we incorporate a range of activities including the following:
    • Introduction to Mountain Leadership;
    • National Navigation Award Scheme;
    • ITC certified outdoor first aid training;
    • Rock climbing;
    • Abseiling;
    • Weaselling;
    • A Tyrolean Traverse;
    • Mountain Biking;
    • Bushcraft and Outdoor Land Management with The National Trust.
    During the residential, the emphasis is on skill development and learning so at the end of the week, participants can walk away with not only some certificates for their CVs, but skills to begin their own independent adventures and experience to build on for the future. We sit down with everyone at the beginning of the residential to ascertain their own goals and wishes for the week and build this into the itinerary to make things as tailored as possible to individuals. Accommodation is in a local bunkhouse with the cost including breakfasts, evening meals and packed lunches each day, hire of all equipment, qualified, experienced and friendly instructors.     'Northumberland Wilderness' OPEN Gold Qualifying Expedition

     

    This awesome expedition will cross the beautiful Northumberland area using scenic routes with the main focus on solitude and wilderness, beginning at Hadrian’s Wall and taking participants overland to the Scottish border at Carter Bar. You will cross varied terrain featuring areas of moorland and forest with detailed ground features and interesting Roman remains. The route has been highly enjoyed by many previous groups; with self-sufficiency a main theme, this is a really ‘out there’ adventure of discovery and exploration!     Do you need to complete a Practice or Qualify expedition? As a Leicestershire based social enterprise, our aim is to bring you the best quality youth projects at affordable prices. Group kit (tents, stoves and fuel) is part of the price and we can provide individual kit (rucksacks, waterproofs, sleeping bags, first aid kits etc) for an extra cost.     We are offering an action-packed Gold Residential programme at High Ashurst  that is all about mountain biking.

    Orchards Cookery School Residentials


    New dates for 2018 booking now

    Orchards Cookery is a multi-award winning cookery school (including Cookery school of the Year, Best English Cookery School…) that specialises in training and recruiting Chalet Cooks, but also offers an Off to University Course and a Dinner Party Course. The courses are intensive (with more than 100 different dishes covered on a 5 day course) and are lots of fun, each day concluding with a dinner party. 

    Over 140 DofE candidates come through the school each year to complete their Residential section.
