    We have a few spaces left on our Maths A Level Revision & Outdoor Activity Residential  23-27 October in the Brecon Beacons. Every day will include quality revision with an experienced A Level Maths teacher, fun activities such as mountain biking and bushcraft, home-cooked meals, a beautiful bunkhouse and evening activities plus FREE pick-up/return to local train station.     We are a day centre for adults with disabilities and we are looking for Support workers. We are located in Grimsby.

     

    You must be 16 years or older. (gold/silver award participants)

      

    Adult support worker 

    Supporting adults with learning disabilities in learning, working and pursuing leisure activities from 10am - 3pm. You will supervise and assist tutors/teachers and service users in activities such as computers, digital photography, arts and crafts as well as recreational activities like pool, table cricket, karaoke.

    Peak District National Park Conservation Residential Projects

    The Peak Park Conservation Volunteers (PPCV) provides fantastic conservation opportunities alongside the Peak District National Park Rangers. You will be involved in a variety of practical conservation projects throughout the National Park during your residential

    You will be located within the beautiful Peak District National Park at our residential centres, Marsh Farm, near Leek and Brunt’s Barn, near Grindleford.

    We provide food, accommodation, use of tools / equipment and insurance for £215. Our projects are available throughout the year for people aged 18 and above and are allocated on a first-come first-served basis

    Silver Practice: 19-22 April in the Peak District
    Silver Qualifier: 12-15 July in the Yorkshire Dales
    Gold Practice: 3-7 April in Snowdonia, 23-27 July in the Lake District
    Gold Qualifier: 23-27 July in the Lake District, 21-25 August in the Lake District
    All the above expeditions include:
    • A pre-expedition information pack including information on how to get to the venue and a complete kit list.
    • FREE pick up/drop off at nearest train station
    • Accommodation throughout the expedition which will either be in a campsite or wild camping.
    • Comprehensive training covering all aspects of the DofE syllabus, 
    • On completion of one of your practice expedition, you will have all aspects of training signed off (providing that you meet the required standard).
    • A dedicated instructor for your group throughout the expedition.
    • Accredited Assessors for the qualifying expedition. They are there to ensure you meet the required standards but in a relaxed and supportive environment.

    Grumpy Moose Art Residential: 18 August – 22 August 2018


    Our art course will give you the opportunity to create a range of unique pieces inspired by the beautiful surroundings of Whitby, North Yorkshire. If you enjoy the freedom to create and want some fresh ideas, this course will be for you.

    Our workshops will be designed to provide you with a new challenge, and will encourage you to create traditional and contemporary pieces in response to a range of tasks, including Movie Posters, comic strips, a range of landscape and setting pieces and (of course in Whitby!) Vampire Portraits. Students will create sketches throughout the week, and have the chance to develop their favourites into fully fledged pieces.

     

    Our aim is that students will leave a portfolio of varied pieces that could form the basis of an art portfolio or just be something to look back on with pride! The cost for the week will be £370 per student, which will cover the cost of accommodation, all workshops, sketchbooks and art materials, and full board.

    Grumpy Moose Short Film Making Residential: 6-10 August 2018


    A chance to work on your filming, acting and editing! Our film making course, held at Sneaton Castle in Whitby, North Yorkshire, will explore a range of styles, from video blogs to music videos, and give students the chance to work with others to create a range of different films.

     

    Seminars will look at storyboarding, movie trailers, stop motion animation, camera tricks, editing and so on, and students will also be encouraged to take advantage of the backdrop of Whitby to make their own Music Videos and Gothic Horror short films.

     

    Our aim is that all students attending the course will produce a portfolio of work based on the seminars and making use of Sneaton castle and Whitby as sets. The cost for the week will be £350 per student which will cover the cost of accommodation, all workshops and full board.

    Grumpy Moose Dance and Performance Residential: 6-10 August 2018


    Available exclusively to students of sixth form age who have a passion for dance and who want to learn and perform a new range of routines with likeminded students, our Dance and Movement course will be held at Sneaton Castle in Whitby, North Yorkshire.

    The week will consist of a number of workshops on a range of styles, from ballet to hip hop. You will also choreograph and perform a solo and a group performance, star in music videos and have the chance to take your talents onto the streets of Whitby in an afternoon of flashmobs!

    Grumpy Moose Drama and Performance Residential: 26-30 July 2018


    We are offering a five day, four night, residential Drama and Performance course available exclusively to students of sixth form age who have a passion for drama and a love of performing, and who want to develop a wider base of skills. The venue will be Sneaton Castle in Whitby, North Yorkshire.

     

    The week will consist of a number of workshops on a range of areas including emotion, improv and movement. There will also be a murder mystery evening, a group performance task, and the chance to take your talents onto the streets of Whitby as a Gothic Vampire!

    Grumpy Moose Creative Writing Residential: 18-22 August or 22-26 October 2018


    Our Creative Writing courses are available exclusively to students of sixth form age who have a passion for creative writing. Each day will consist of a number of workshops on different aspects of story writing, free time to write independently and collaboratively and explore the inspiring area of your surroundings, and then evenings will be spent sharing work and creative ideas.

     

    Our aim is that all students attending the course will leave with a portfolio of creative work inspired by the workshops, their surroundings and their peers. The cost for the week will be £350 per student which will cover the cost of accommodation, all workshops and full board.

    Grumpy Moose Board Gaming Residential: 31 July–4 August 2018


    Are you interested in spending time with others who share your hobby, and want to devote a week to competitive and cooperative board gaming? Our Board Gaming residential is aimed at sixth form students who enjoy gaming and who want to expand their horizons. You will play a range of genres across the week, including traditional board games, story based role play and party games. You will also work with others to design your own games and have the chance to try them out!

     

    The course will be held at Sneaton Castle in Whitby, North Yorkshire, and will cost £350 per student. This will cover the cost of full board accommodation, all workshops, games and materials.

    Grumpy Moose Wargaming Campaign Residential: 31 July–4 August 2018


    Grumpy Moose ltd is offering a five day Tabletop Wargaming campaign at Sneaton Castle in Whitby, North Yorkshire. Participants will join a team of players to conduct a narrative sci-fi campaign, consisting of a series of linked games, overseen by a Gamesmaster and driven by the player’s choices and actions. Players will be expected to work together, plan their actions and make choices that have a tangible impact on the overall campaign. Using the armies provided (so no need to bring or even own your own models!), you will conduct and fight a range of themed battles that will affect, and be affected by, the events of the campaign as a whole.

     

    Open to sixth form students, whether they are experienced Wargamers or complete novices, the course is limited to just eight players and will cost £350. This will cover the cost of full board accommodation, all workshops, games and materials.

    Grumpy Moose Cookery Residential: 22-26 October 2018


    Our Cookery course is designed to give you the skills to cook for yourself at University and beyond, by helping you to get to grips with a range of simple recipes in a relaxed setting. Working with an experienced industry professional, you will prepare meals for the group, trying a range of recipes and ideas, and working with your peers on different skills in the kitchen. You will also have the chance to prepare desserts and cakes, to create your own recipe ideas, and to learn how to shop and budget for your meals.

     

    Our aim is that you leave the course with the confidence and ability to prepare and cook a variety of meals (and on a range of budgets!), including staple foods, quick lunches, simple breakfasts and healthy evening meals.

     

    The cost for the week will be £395 per student, which will cover the cost of accommodation, all workshops, your own utensil set and recipe notebook, and full board.

    Grumpy Moose Life Skills Residential: 22-26 October 2018


    Our Life Skills course is designed to equip you with the knowledge you'll need in later life - If you're worried that you aren't ready to live away from home, or just feel that you need some guidance, this course will allow you to get to grips with a range of skills, and give you the confidence to look after yourself. Covering a broad range of skills, including DIY, basic cookery, interview and presentation, practical economics and budgeting, and with workshops and seminars led by a range of experienced professionals, the course is designed to provide you with the skills you need, and fill in any gaps in your knowledge.

     

    The course is open to Sixth Form aged students (at the time of the course), and will be held at Beverley Youth Hostel. The cost will be £375, and this will cover all workshops, staffing, materials, accommodation and full board.

    Gold Residential sailing voyage aboard an Edwardian racing yacht – October Half Term


     An experience for fun, adventure, making new friends, learning new skills and an opportunity to gain Royal Yachting Association accreditation. Participants will be fully involved in planning the sailing passage, navigation, watch keeping, night sailing and other aspects of running the vessel alongside the two professional crew and up to 6 six other trainees. No sailing experience is necessary although regular sailors will enjoy being aboard Duet, a 105 year old gaff rigged yacht. 

    Duet is operated by The Cirdan Sailing Trust, a sail training charity that has been taking young people to sea for over 30 years.

    Wayahead Training


    If you are unable to attend your own centre’s DofE Gold training & practice expedition then Wayahead Training Ltd are offering an opportunity to complete this with an open group. You'll meet with your instructor in the morning of the advertised start date and will spend the next 2 days training which includes navigation skills, camp craft skills, planning your route and going over our emergency procedures. Day 3 will be the start of your 3 day practice expedition which meets the minimum requirement set by DofE. 

     

    The price includes Mountain Leader Qualified - Supervisor, accredited assessor and campsite fees. 

    We need a minimum of 5 participants for this expedition to run. 

     

    Wayahead Training Ltd provides high quality outdoor education programmes to young people and adults. We hold an AALA license meaning that our procedures and staff qualifications are checked on an annual basis by highly qualified and experienced outdoor professional working on behalf of the health and safety executive.

    Cumbria Outdoors DofE Approved Activity Provider are pleased to announce the opportunity to experience their Gold John Muir Residential.

     

    The cost will be £330 per person. This includes activities, meals, accommodation and pick-up from Penrith Railway Station (time to be advised).
