Calling all Musicians! Come and rock your way through an exciting few days making music with other young people here at The Cheltenham Music School.

If you play an instrument at Grade 5 or above or if you are a keen singer (or both!) you are warmly welcomed to join us. During the 5-day course you will be choosing favourite songs and writing your own new song, building towards a group performance at the end of the week for family and friends.

You will learn about all aspects of being in a band under the guidance of dynamic and inspiring tutors, led by Peter Gill, one of the best-known West country musicians.

Its fine if you've only ever played solo - most students are in that position - so being a little nervous is expected. We tutors still get nervous on stage believe me !

Over the days you will develop performance skills, equipment skills, and song interpretation, with the main emphasis on the sheer joy of making a racket together. And just watch your confidence grow !

We will explore some music theory and a wide range of musical styles along the way. All students will be encouraged to try some basic drumming and singing (if you want to!) to help with self-expression and a sense of rhythm.

Evening activities have included tennis sessions, a quiz night, going to a gig and cooking in a local cookery school.

    DATES :- 22-26 October, 2017
    11-15 February, 2018

COST :- £590 to include tutoring, full-board accommodation, transport and evening
    activities.

CONTACT:- For further information please email ivan@cheltenhammusicschool.co.uk, ring 07773-333949

Oyster Worldwide Gold residential – Wildlife conservation volunteering in Borneo

Help to protect and regenerate wildlife habitats and rainforest alongside the beautiful and meandering river Kinabatangan. You will spend your days out on the river monitoring the local wildlife, from orang-utans to pygmy elephants, as well as replanting and conserving their jungle home. Volunteers get a real opportunity to live in a small piece of paradise – and help to keep it that way.

    When?
You can take part in this programme for 12 days with arrivals on the 21st of each month.

    What’s it all about?
Preserving and regenerating the jungle is a large aspect of this project. More jungle means more animal habitat. So you’ll be continuing the work of previous volunteers and getting a real sense of achievement as you see the jungle flourish! As well as this, you’ll be observing and monitoring animals onboard a boat, looking at orang-utans, primates, elephants, birds and many more. You’ll be with the local community too, helping teach the importance of sustainable stewardship and also learning about their customs like making traditional fishing nets.

    How much does it cost?
    12 days costs £1197

Your accommodation is in the small village of Orang Sungai in a riverside guesthouse, where you share a basic yet comfortable room with at least one other volunteer. There is a shared western style en suite too.

If you would like to take part in this programme then you can find more information on our website. Alternatively, please contact Destination Manager, Anne, at anne@oysterworldwide.com
