And now, on with the news...

ITV documentary

Did you miss the ITV documentary last December - When Phillip met Prince Philip: 60 years of The Duke of Edinburgh's Award? If so, it is still available to watch online.

In this well-received hour-long film, Phillip Schofield gets to chat with HRH The Duke of Edinburgh during our 60th Anniversary year in 2016.

Award Verifiers

Please remember that an Award Verifier training course has been added to the DofE’s Modular Training Framework. We’ve created the course to make sure that all Award Verifiers have the skills and information they need to do their important role. The course must be completed by all new Award Verifiers and may need to be completed by existing Award Verifiers.

Expedition cooking tips

It is often thought that cooking a good meal to compete with a home-cooked Sunday roast, in the great outdoors, is an impossible task. Most will settle for a tin of beans or some plain pasta on their expedition. However, there are many exciting and fun ways to cook a filling and energising meal in the wilderness.

Check out our great blog about expedition cooking for some great ideas to share with your participants...

Small grants source

The Alpkit Foundation was set up to help people overcome obstacles and enable them to 'go to nice places and do good things'. They can provide...

  • Up to £500 cash to individuals, groups, schools and organisations to enable outdoor experiences and expeditions.
  • Discounted equipment for purposeful adventures.
  • Support for outdoor educational programmes.

International Award video

The Duke of Edinburgh's International Award has published an excellent new video recently, promoting the role of volunteers in Award-related activities.

This film gives a taster of what it's like to be a Leader within The Duke of Edinburgh's Award.

Whilst it is not designed specifically for a UK audience, you may find it useful to use in your promotional activities when recruiting your volunteers.

Residentials galore!

With the summer holidays just around the corner, now is a great time to remind participants of the opportunities available for their Gold residential. There is a wide range of residentials suitable for all budgets running this summer, from learning about volunteering on a conservation project to learning how to make a film in five days.
